10 December 2026: The AI Decision Deadline Executives Can't Ignore

Starting 10 December, APP 1.7 adds disclosure obligations for automated decisions that affect people.

➡ Hiring filters ➡ Credit scoring ➡ Insurance pricing ➡ Claims triage

If your organisation uses AI in those decisions, you have to say so publicly in your privacy policy.

Every board I reviewed this year approved the AI build, but conservatively, fewer than 30% budgeted for the compliance work required to reach the deadline.

The OAIC's already sweeping about 60 organisations across six sectors, and the Australian Shareholders' Association is calling for clearer board oversight of AI and cyber risk at AGM season. Weak oversight is part of the conversation.

Boards are facing a perfect storm this cycle: an upcoming penalty deadline, a budget that backed the AI build but not the compliance, and heightened shareholder scrutiny leading up to re-election.

Find out what you need to know and what needs to happen in the latest episode.

If getting compliant before December is on your radar but the work hasn't been done, we can help. Acquire Intelligence is running a small number of dedicated APP 1.7 readiness sprints to get teams sorted.

We have very limited capacity for these, so if you need to get this off your plate, reply directly to this email with "APP 1.7" and we'll get right back to you

    Ramon.
